CRITERIA FOR SCHOLAR-ATHLETE AWARD


In order to qualify for a Scholar-Athlete Award at Huron High School, a student must maintain at least a 3.2 GPA* during the semester of participation and he/she must participate (and finish the season in good standing) in at least one of the 33 following sports at any level (Freshman, JV, or Varsity):

Men's Baseball
Men's and Women's Basketball
Men's and Women's Bowling
Co-Ed Cheer
Men's and Women's Cross-Country
Co-Ed Crew
Women's Field Hockey
Co-Ed Equestrian
Men's Football
Co-Ed Figure Skating
Men's and Women's Golf
Men's Ice Hockey 
Men's and Women's Soccer
Men's and Women's Lacrosse
Women's Softball
Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving
Co-Ed Sports Medicine
Women's Synchronized Swimming
Men's and Women's Tennis
Men's and Women's Track and Field
Women's Volleyball
Men's and Women's Water Polo
Men's Wrestling

If a student participates in exactly one sport per school year, then the Scholar-Athlete Award is based upon the following: 
   Fall sport only: 1st semester grades
   Winter sport only: 1st semester grades
   Spring sport only: 2nd semester grades

If a student participates in two (or more) sports per school year, then the Scholar-Athlete Award is based upon the following:
   Fall and winter sport: 1st semester and 2nd semester grades
   Winter and spring sport: 1st semester and 2nd semester grades
   Fall and spring sport: 1st semester and 2nd semester grades

*The 3.2 GPA is calculated with no rounding up.   3.1999 does not qualify for a Scholar Athlete award.
