Commencement News Class of 2012

Caps and Gowns All participants in the Commencement Exercises must wear a cap and gown. Caps and gowns are available through Graduate Service, Inc. a Herff Jones Company, which is located in Belleville, Michigan. (Phone number is 734-699-4757).
Distribution of caps and gowns will take place in Meyers Auditorium on Friday, June 1, 2012 from 9:00am thru 3:00pm (see schedule below).
- A-F 9:00 - 10:30
- G-K 10:30 - 12:00
- L-R 12:00 - 1:00
- S-Z 1:30 - 3:00
All obligations must be cleared for you to receive a cap and gown.
Rehearsal It is mandated that all graduating seniors are required to attend the commencement rehearsal on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 10:00am at EMU's Convocation Center. Rehearsal will conclude at approximately 12:00 pm.
Proper Attire MEN should wear a dress shirt, dress pants and shoes. No shorts, sandals or tennis shoes!
WOMEN should wear a dress or skirt and top, or dress pants and top and low heeled shoes. No shorts, sandals or tennis shoes!
Please note that gowns will be collected immediately following the Commencement Ceremony. You keep your cap and tassel. Be advised that those wishing to take pictures of your graduate in his/her gown, should do so before arriving at EMU. |
Graduate/Parent Advisory With all the excitement and celebrations pertaining to graduation, we must be careful that student behavior does not disrupt Huron's school climate for the remainder of it's students. Inappropriate behavior and student pranks will not be tolerated. Students in violation could lose the privilege of participating in senior activities including walking at graduation, attending prom or the all-night party. Parents please discuss this with your students.
Commencement Ceremony Huron High School's Commencement Ceremony will be held at EMU's Convocation Center on Wednesday, June 6, 2012 at 6:00pm (graduates line-up at 5:15pm). Students will arrive at 5:15pm and line-up in the auxiliary gym. The processional will begin promptly at 6:00pm.
Tickets
Guests All guests should be seated no later than 5:45pm, before the processional begins. No parents or guests are permitted on the floor of EMU Convocation Center. All guests should remain seated until the final graduate has exited EMU Convocation Center at the end of the recessional.
Families and guests may meet graduates outside of the Convocation Center after the ceremony.
Special Needs EMU will be opened for guests and graduating seniors with special needs at 5:30pm. An area is designed for guests with hearing impairment. Please have guests notify ushers upon arrival if this service is desired.
Programs Programs will be distributed to graduates and guests at EMU Convocation Center on the evening of Wednesday, June 6, 2012.

Celebratory Atmosphere Commencement is filled with excitement and tradition. It is a special time to share your achievements with your family, friends and Huron staff. So that all present may safely enjoy and fondly remember these commencement exercises, there will be not eating, drinking or smoking allowed.
Toys and party favors of any kind - noise makers, horns, beach balls, signs on poles, etc., will not be permitted.
Please be respectful of each other. Huron and EMU security personnel have been advised to remove such items.
Picture Taking
Parents and guests will not be permitted on the floor at EMU Convocation Center to photograph graduates. Security personnel have been advised not to permit parents and guests to enter the floor areas during the Commencement Ceremonies.
A professional photographer will photograph each graduate receiving his/her diploma. Information regarding purchase of these photos will be mailed to graduates directly from the photographer.
Diplomas
Students who have met graduation requirements and have no outstanding or uncleared obligations will receive their well-deserved diploma at commencement.
Students who do not pick up their diploma at commencement, may pick up their diploma, if obligations are clear, beginning Monday, June 11, 2012, in the Senior class office.
